On a chilly weekend in mid-April, a group of student actors transformed the Faunce Hall steps into the bittersweet world of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Across the Green on Lincoln Field, meanwhile, other actors brought to life the comedic twists of The Taming of the Shrew, as well as the historical battles of Henry V. This was the third annual Shakespeare on the Green Festival, which drew crowds of students out of classrooms and dorm rooms in anticipation of spring The student-run festival was the end result of weeks of after-dark rehearsals and planning sessions. Jonathan Olin '99 and Lauren Hynek '00 directed Romeo and Juliet, which included twenty-five cast and crew members as well as a string quartet. Sarah Gurfield '99 directed The Taming of the Shrew, and Amanda Treyz '00 directed Henry V, which featured martial arts demonstrations and a performance by the Brown Madrigals.
