At her house on June 28, Christina Paxson welcomed twenty Providence public high school graduates who’d been awarded $2,500 college scholarships from the Fund for the Education of the Children of Providence. The fund, established as part of Brown’s 2007 response to the Steering Committee on Slavery and Justice report, is a permanent endowment for helping local students. “I am really overjoyed that Brown University in a small way is able to help you realize your dreams of going to college,” Paxson told the recipients.
