On Screen

November 5th, 2014

Longtime Hollywood actor Randall Batinkoff ’90 (School Ties, Kick Ass) took on way more than the lead role in 37: A Final Promise. The new film, which he cowrote and coproduced, also marks his directorial debut. Batinkoff stars as Adam Webb, a rock singer who plans to end his life on his 37th birthday (three months in the future) because he’s tormented by guilt over a childhood incident. He then falls in love with a beautiful woman, which steers him off course. Variety calls the film “an old-fashioned tearjerker set to a goth-rock sound track.” The narrative is loosely based on the true story in the forthcoming book How Angels Die by Guy Blews. “The topics covered are sensitive,” Batinkoff says, “and really make you think about life scenarios we typically avoid.”
