Until the late 1960s, Ivy Day was one of Pembroke’s great annual traditions. Undergraduates donned white dresses and carried an “ivy chain” draped across their shoulders. Picking up the rear were the seniors in their cap and gown finery. Here, Louise Fitzpatrick ’41 grabs a quick smoke before heading over to the “step singing” portion of the event, during which the women would gather and sing Pembroke’s alma mater.
