With the publication of Breathtaken, two Brown faculty have taken the book back to its roots.
The project began when literary arts professor C. D. Wright approached Walter Feldman, now an emeritus professor of visual arts, with what she described as “a black poem.” A printer, bookmaker, and artist, Feldman created block prints to illustrate it, and then printed the accordion book on archival paper at his Ziggurat Press. It’s nothing short of breathtaking.
