Recent Brown press releases attempt, unconvincingly, to put a positive spin on Brown's negative decision regarding ROTC on campus ("All That Brown Can Be," Elms, November/December). The administration's claim to be pro-military and pro-ROTC is patently hypocritical and two-faced, unworthy of a major university.
Ruth Simmons and her colleagues seem intent on letting Brown slip even further behind Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, while clinging to the values and mind-set of the 1970s.
How sad! Brown has, or had, the potential to become a leading university.
