What's Obama Like?

July 19th, 2010
At the Commencement forum "The Challenge of Change: Joining the Executive Branch in the Age of Obama," Brown alumni working in the president's administration offered a peek into the workings of the White House.

"The president likes to surround himself with competing and contrasting voices," said Norm Eisen '85, Special Counsel to the President on Ethics and Government Reform. "You do get a very vigorous discussion going... If he does not feel there is sufficient debate and compare and contrast in the discussion, the president will call other people in."

He added, "The president is extraordinarily calm and cerebral."
