Wesleyan announced it would award an honorary degree to President Simmons this spring..... Professor Emeritus of History Gordon Wood won the American History Book Prize—and $50,000—for Empire of Liberty: A History of the Early Republic, 1789-1815.... Brown joined Madrid's Instituto de Empresa to launch an MBA program for veteran businesspeople; one of its founders described the program as aimed at "managers who read the New Yorker."... With twenty current Peace Corps volunteers, Brown ranks twenty-fifth among medium-sized schools.... President Simmons announced she will give up her seat on the board of directors of Goldman Sachs.... Assistant Professor of Community Health Amal N. Trivedi reported the results of a new study that found raising insurance copayments for senior citizens prompts them to seek more care from hospital emergency rooms, resulting in higher costs and worse health.
