David Shields's article, "How We Are in the World," struck a particular chord with me (January/February). Although I graduated from Brown before the new curriculum, I was not surprised when it was successfully introduced. Seventeen years ago, when I took over Dramatists Play Service, a play-licensing and publishing company, I got to know Paula Vogel, whom we represent and publish. The original and eclectic nature of the material that I receive from men and women from Brown is truly extraordinary. While I am aware that I have a certain prejudice towards authors from my alma mater, I can also say that I have never lowered our standards in order to publish them.
