In February the Creative Arts Council joined with Hillel’s Glenn and Darcy Weiner Center to present an exhibition called Acts of Charity, Deeds of Kindness, which featured photographs by Caryl Englander. The images are intended to bear witness to poverty and hunger in New York City and were part of a project for New York’s Metropolitan Council of Jewish Poverty, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to carry out the tradition of tikkun olam, or “repairing the world.”
