Before an audience of 200 students, the seniors paraded across the Salomon Center stage in costumes representing various student groups. A member of the Greek Council wore a toga. Ian Kaplan, of the Brown Concert Agency, dressed like a rock star.
In the talent portion of the competition, Drew Freilich, representing Habitat for Humanity, built a doghouse on stage to the sound of Starship's "We Built This City." Thomas Roache pulled two fellow members of Improvidence, Brown's improvisational comedy group, up on stage to help him demonstrate his ad lib comedy skills. In the evening-wear competition, the five finalists modeled tuxedos and mostly failed to answer Brown trivia questions, including who founded the new curriculum and the names of five libraries on campus.
In the end, Peter Kim, representing the a cappella group the Jabberwocks, walked away with the $75 first-place prize. As he waved to the crowd, he was crowned Mr. Brown by runway veteran Rosalyn Menon '01, Miss Pennsylvania 2001.
