Saturday at Field Day the reminiscing continued as everyone milled around with friends, spouses, and children. It was fun to wander about and wonder whom you’d remember and who would remember you. As day turned into evening everyone got excited about either the dance on Pembroke field or the party at Jed Simon’s old haunt. Many made it to both! It was fun to hang out at a house party knowing that many years have passed since our last standing in that same position.
Those who heard President Ruth Simmons speak on Sunday morning were impressed by her bold and exciting vision for Brown. Following the president’s remarks was the all-class memorial service, where a candle was lit in memory of our classmates who were lost during the past five years. On Sunday afternoon anthropology professor William Beeman moderated our class seminar on terrorism featuring Maria Teresa Davila Del Valle, Joey Perez, and Rob Rosenberg. Also on Sunday, we enjoyed a Dave Binder concert (despite more rain), a reception at Restaurant Prov, and WaterFire.
We ended our reunion weekend with the Commencement March on Monday, and despite the pouring rain had a wonderful time. Thanks to everyone who was able to attend the reunion, and for those of you who couldn’t make it, we really missed you and hope to see you in five years!
