We kicked off the reunion Friday evening with a gathering in the Chancellor’s Dining Room in the Sharpe Refectory. Twenty-four friends—eighteen classmates and six guests—enjoyed a social hour of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. A class photo was taken just before the Brown Bear Buffet. As we indulged in food and drink, the room was filled with laughter as several good jokes and stories were told.
At noon on Saturday, the Pembroke luncheon was held at the Hope Club. We had cocktails that night at the faculty club followed by dinner and the pops concert.
Sunday morning a memorial service was held for classmates who have departed since our last reunion. Muriel Macpherson Abbott and Bob Thomas were the official candle bearers. Sunday evening from sunset to 11 p.m. we were treated to WaterFire, the spectacular, award-winning creation of Barnaby Evans ’75.
Monday’s march down the hill was hurried, as mentioned before. Class officers to serve for the next five years are as follows: class president Muriel Macpherson Abbott, vice president Walter Covell, treasurer Bob Thomas, and secretaries Virginia MacMillan Trescott and Luke Mayer. Bill Rice will also join the executive committee.
