Chef and cookbook author Aliya LeeKong ’00 has created “Issa’s Edible Adventures,” an app for kids that aims to teach “diversity, social studies, global citizenship, and cooking.” She says she wanted to depict characters with multiracial identities (like her daughter, Asya) in a digital medium. Issa travels the world in search of missing ingredients for a recipe, flying a helicopter to places like Nepal, where she finds the spice cardamom. Then she heads back to her mom’s restaurant kitchen to help make the dish (kids can print out the recipe). Download the free app from the app store.
