Could You Get Into Brown Today?

I was very happy to read of the very high caliber of students that make up the class of 2013 and happier still to take up the challenge your editors posed to our alumni: "As an alum, be honest: could you get into Brown today?" ("The Class of 2013 by the Numbers," Elms, September/October).

In both 1980 and 1981 U.S. News & World Report ranked Brown as the top school in the nation. In the years since, I have delighted in reading the BAM's coverage of the many notable accomplishments of our graduates among whose ranks are Nobel and Pulitzer prizewinners, university founders and presidents, Fortune 500 CEOs, poets, journalists, teachers, scholars, scientific researchers, politicians, statesmen, community leaders, activists—in short, successful professionals of every sort.

So, to answer your question: Although for me it's an open question, I am certain that my classmates could still get into Brown today. And I would add: be honest BAM editors, don't you think that our alumni have something to do with why the members of the class of 2013 were motivated to apply to Brown?
