Early applications declined 64 percent this year - from 5,251 to 1,910 - as Brown switched from an early-action program to early decision, which requires an applicant to attend the University if admitted .Student leaders of the Multi-Faith Council announced the creation of a memorial quilt for six alumni and other friends of Brown who perished in the terrorist attacks of September 11 .
