Prize Winner

Thank you so much for the marvelous feature on Professor of History Karl Jacoby in the September/October issue ("Historian of Memory"). Though as a history editor and a friend I have known Karl for years, your article revealed more about the origins of his intellectual interests than this humble, soft-spoken historian had ever told me. I just want to add that, since the publication of this piece, his book, Shadows at Dawn, has won the Beveridge Award of the American Historical Association, the most prestigious prize given by this organization. Brown is lucky indeed to have a historian and writer of Karl Jacoby's caliber.
