Four fresh alumni faces were elected to join the Brown Corporation in May. The fifty-four-member board oversees and helps manage the operational and financial health of the University, and should soon vote on its next president (see page 21):

Richard C. Barker ’57 of San Francisco. Barker is chairman of Capital International Ltd. He is a trustee of the Naval War College Foundation and the Marin General Hospital Foundation, a member of the President’s Council at RAND, and a member and past director of the Security Analysts of San Francisco.

Robin Lenhardt ’89 of Washington, D.C. Lenhardt is an associate with the law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering and a former adviser in the office of legal counsel for the U.S. Department of Justice.

Jonathan M. Nelson ’77 of Providence. Nelson is a founder of Narragansett Capital Inc., a privately held investment banking firm. In 1980, Nelson formed a partnership with Lazard Frères & Co. to create Providence Equity Partners, which acquires new-media properties.

Daniel S. O’Connell ’76 of New York City. O’Connell is a founding partner and CEO of Vestar Capital Partners Inc., an investment firm that manages more than $1 billion in equity capital. Prior to founding Vesta, O’Connell was head of the leveraged-buyout department of First Boston Corp. m
